Basic concepts of instrumentation for monitoring of biological systems will be studied. Specific topics include: selection and use of sensors and data acquisition systems for measuring various parameters of biological systems (temperature, pressure, flow and pH value), monitoring and control of bioreactors, analytic instruments for measuring cells and biomolecules (light and fluorescence microscopes, GC-MS, HPLC and element analyzer), and analysis of experimental data. Prerequisite: ECEN 340. (F;S;SS)
