In this course, students learn about the major imaging modalities used in clinical medicine and biomedical research. The physical principles including photon absorption, acoustic reflection, and nuclear magnetic resonance that produce contrast in each modality, and the devices, signals and analyses used to acquire images are discussed. Each student performss direct measurements on and analyzes data from living systems using an imaging system or device. Prerequisites: BMEN 220. Corequisites: BMEN 320, ECEN 340. (F;S)
