This capstone design course emphasizes the design of a complete chemical process including literature survey, mass and energy balances, flow diagrams, equipment selection and design, and cost and economics analysis. Students develop and use computer-aided simulation to model process equipment design. Projects include extensive use of the ASPEN PLUS simulation package. Oral and written presentations of the design projects are required. Prerequisites: CHEN 400, CHEN 422, CHEN 430, CHEM 441; Corequisite: CHEN 340. (F;S)
