This course is supervised research under the mentorship of a member of the graduate faculty before a student passes the preliminary exam. This research should lead to the identification of a dissertation topic and written research proposal. Grading is satisfactory/unsatisfactory evaluation only. Prerequisites: Doctoral standing.
