Introduction to Global Studies is a broad integrative look at global issues. It is designed to expand students’ knowledge of the world beyond the United States. The course seeks to foster self-awareness and self-reflection by placing students’ values and means of engagement in the context of an examination of global issues, such as race, class, globalization, nationalism, capitalism, nationstate, development, colonialism, imperialism, world religions, and the natural environment. It is designed to introduce students to global issues and analysis of the events that have shaped the new global society. This introductory course prepares students for experience abroad. Prerequisite: None. (F;S;SS).
