This is an intensive reading, research, and discussion course that will address selected topics in African- American history, including the African background, the institution of slavery, Abolitionism, the Reconstruction Era migration out of the south, the Civil Rights Movement, and African-American intellectual traditions. Prerequisites: HIST 106 and HIST 107 or permission of the instructor. (F)
