This basic course in materials science covers the fundamental nature of materials including their physical, mechanical and chemical characteristics. Topics include: atomic arrangements and atomic bonding; structure property relaionships, phase diagrams, engineering properties and basic failure modes. Prerequisites: CHEM 106 and MATH 131. (F;S)
