This course covers the role of materials in engineering; properties of materials; nonferrous and ferrous systems and applications; heat treatment and strengthening mechanisms; various polymeric, ceramic, composite materials biomaterials and their applications; failure theories; characterization; corrosion and environmental issues; project work involving selection and design with various material systems.
