An overview of the research process and evidenced-based practice are presented. Their contribution to the development of nursing knowledge and practice are emphasized. The historical evolution of nursing research and its impact on current issues are examined. Current research studies are critically appraised for quality and application to evidence-based nursing practice. Ethical considerations and rights of human participants are explored.
