This course covers fundamentals of classical and quantum statistical mechanics: statistical ensembles and distributions functions, non-interfacting particles, ideal Fermi and Bose system, treatment of interacting systems, phase transitions, approaches to collective phenomena. Prerequisite: PHYS 430 of Graduate Standing.
