This course offers explicit instruction on how to assess and teach phonemic awareness, phonics/wordy stud, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehensions using research-based teaching strategies for students with persistent reading difficulties. Emphasis is placed on using individualized assessment results, the general education curriculum, and reading research to develop appropriate IEP goals and plans for instruction to support rapid reading growth. A 20-hour field experience in an approved reading learning environment is required. Prerequisite: Formal Admission to Educator Preparation and ELED 311. Credit 3(3-0). (F;S)
