Biography
Dr. Amy Schwartzott is Associate Professor of Art History in the Visual and Performing Arts Department and Curator of University Galleries at North Carolina A & T. She earned her PhD in Art History from the University of Florida. One of her most recent publications is the co-edited volume for African Performance Review, 'Mobility, Identity and Change: African Peoples and Theatre Forms in a Post Post-Colonial World' with Annette Büehler-Dietrich (2025)
Dr. Schwartzott has curated exhibitions nationally and internationally in Cape Town, South Africa and Maputo, Mozambique. She serves on the editorial board of ‘African Performance Review,’ and holds dual positions for the Global Center of Religious Research, where she is Head of Global Arts and Religion as well as Treasurer. She has recently been appointed as a grant reviewer for the U.S. national Fulbright competitions and participates in the yearly Advanced Placement Art History Reading each summer.
