Biography
The overall career goal of Dr. Ofori-Boadu is to utilize her education, training, experience and God-given talents to improve built environments through sustainable materials, practices, and workforce development. Andrea has over 25 years of construction teaching, research, service and practice experience. She has advised, taught, mentored, and supported over 1,800 construction students. In addition to her U.S. patent (USPA 20190345061, August 2021) for swine-waste bio-char as a partial cement replacement material, her research work has yielded grounded theories to explain professional identity development processes in students. She has received over $2 million dollars in grant funding to support her research and outreach work which has resulted in numerous citations, as well university and national awards. Andrea is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders, National Housing Endowment, American Society of Civil Engineers, International Association of Journals and Conferences, and the National Association of Women in Construction. Through her National Science Foundation grant, she established the Emerging Built Environment Women center at North Carolina A & T State University to mentor and support girls and women with interests in construction professions. Andrea is married to Victor Ofori-Boadu and they have three wonderful children.
