Professional Profile

Dr. Ann Nduati Mungai is an Associate Professor of Accounting at North Carolina A&T State University. A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Dr. Mungai brings a wealth of international and practical experience to the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics. Her professional background includes significant experience as an accountant and auditor, which informs her approach to both academic research and classroom instruction.

Research Interests

Dr. Mungai’s research program focuses on the technical and structural elements of financial transparency. Her work explores the intersections of international accounting standards, corporate governance, and financial reporting disclosures. She is particularly noted for her investigations into how information technology (IT) capabilities and managerial skill sets influence financial reporting quality and market volatility.

Teaching & Mentorship

Dr. Mungai is dedicated to the technical development of future accounting professionals. At North Carolina A&T, she teaches Principles of Accounting II and Cost Accounting. Her instructional expertise also extends to Accounting Information Systems (AIS), where she emphasizes integrating technology into the accounting cycle.

Beyond her instructional duties, Dr. Mungai is deeply involved in student success and professional readiness. She serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Zeta Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honor organization for students and professionals in financial information. In this role, and through her individual mentorship, she facilitates networking opportunities and professional growth for students pursuing careers in accounting, finance, and information systems analytics.
