Personal profile

Biography

I am a behavioral neuroscientist focused on adolescent alcohol exposure and sex differences impacting brain and behavior long-term. Using preclinical models, I study neuroendocrine and developmental mechanisms linked to addiction and mood disorders. I serve as Interim Associate Chair of the Psychology Department, leading graduate education and mentoring. I train students to conduct rigorous research aligned with Applied Psychology PhD goals, preparing them for diverse careers in academia and applied fields.
Highlights:
Funded research on adolescent alcohol effects
Preclinical models of brain and behavior
Interim Associate Chair advancing education
Mentorship fostering rigorous research
Preparing students for varied careers

Research Interests

I investigate how sex differences emerging during adolescence impact brain development and behavior using preclinical mouse models in behavioral neuroscience. My work focuses on how adolescent binge alcohol and high-fat diet exposure alter neuroendocrine function, dopaminergic signaling, and affective behaviors in a sex-specific manner. I employ molecular biology, behavioral assays, and metabolomics to elucidate the neural and hormonal mechanisms underlying vulnerability to substance use and mood disorders. My goal is to advance understanding of developmental neuroplasticity and its role in shaping long-term behavioral outcomes.
Highlights:
Preclinical mouse models of adolescent brain development
Neuroendocrine regulation of behavior and brain circuits
Sex-specific modulation of dopaminergic pathways
Integration of molecular, behavioral, and metabolomic methods
Mechanistic insights into developmental neuroplasticity
