Biography

When persons read or hear health information and cannot make heads or tails of it, that’s health illiteracy. My goal is to study ways to identify this type of illiteracy and use a model that will help both the health care provider and the health care consumer to bridge the gap in comprehension. I am Dr. Evelyn L. Hoover, registered nurse with over 40 years of nursing and nursing education experience. I became a nurse after earning a diploma from Helene Fuld School of Nursing, Baltimore, MD. Earned BSN and MSN with focus on community/public health from University of Maryland-Baltimore and doctorate in philosophy from Binghamton University, NY.
