Biography
Dr. Guoqing Tang is a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at North Carolina A&T State University (NCA&T). He served as the department chair from August 2008 through June 2025. During his tenure at NCA&T, he has published over 40 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and one book, and have received over $22 million in STEM-related grants, contracts and gifts. He has engaged 2 post-doctoral research associates, 6 PhD students, 30 master’s students and 60 undergraduate students in his funded research projects, and served on 15 Ph.D. dissertation committees and over 60 master’s thesis or project committees. He has been actively involved in research in the areas of nonlinear dynamic control systems, differential geometric optimal control, signal processing, mathematical and computational geophysics (seismology and meteorology), data science and analytics, scientific computing, and STEM education.
