Biography
Harvey Long serves as the Student Success Librarian at the F.D. Bluford Library and is a Ph.D. student at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Winston-Salem State University. With over a decade of experience in academic libraries, he has worked as an archivist assistant, department head, and librarian. His research explores the histories of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and how HBCU students engage with libraries. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was named a 2022 American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leader.
