Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the existing empirical research investigating theinfluence of emotions, specifically worry, ondecision making and behaviors. Worry is associated with seemingly irrational behaviorsand problem avoidance, while worry aboutone’s finances has been associated withunwarranted risk aversion and suboptimalfinancial decision making. This study uses aproprietary data set to explore the association between financial worry and socioeconomic status as well as to identify the financial stressors associated with financial worry
