Abstract

Health care is an increasingly diverse field where many specialties interact to provide optimal client care. Using a multidisciplinary team approach, each team member functions in a specific role consistent with his/her professional expertise. This chapter provides an overview of case management in a variety of medical disciplines. Information on the different types of medical services including inpatient and outpatient services, allied health case management services, funding for services, service outcomes, and common barriers faced by clients in the medical case management system are presented in this chapter.
