Abstract
The specific heat, magnetization, susceptibility and electrical resistivity of Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7 are presented, Pr, unlike other rare earths. depresses Tc and iinduces a transition from metallic to semiconducting behavior at x ∼ 0.6. Tc versus x follows an Abrikosov-Gor'kov curve. The specific heat coefficient γ, at low temperatures, increases markedly with x, reaching values normally associated with heavy fermion behavior. Indirect evidence suggests that Pr is in an intermediate valence state close to 4+. © 1989.
