Abstract

Presented Elevate Your LinkedIn as part of North Carolina A&T State University’s Graduate and Student Professional Week, providing professional development focused on career readiness, workforce development, leadership advancement, digital networking, and personal branding. The session was designed to help graduate and undergraduate students strategically leverage LinkedIn and other professional networking platforms to strengthen their professional presence, expand career opportunities, and build meaningful connections within their fields of interest.The presentation emphasized the importance of digital literacy, professional communication, leadership identity development, and lifelong learning in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven workforce. Participants explored strategies for creating impactful professional profiles, communicating their experiences effectively, developing authentic professional networks, engaging with industry leaders, and positioning themselves for internships, leadership opportunities, graduate education, and career advancement.Drawing upon extensive experience in educational leadership, workforce development, and professional networking, the session highlighted how digital platforms can serve as powerful tools for economic mobility, mentorship, collaboration, and professional growth. Discussions focused on the role of strategic relationship-building, personal branding, ethical online engagement, and professional visibility in supporting long-term career success. Participants were encouraged to view networking as a process of creating value, fostering partnerships, and contributing to professional communities rather than simply seeking employment opportunities.The session also examined the intersection of technology, innovation, workforce readiness, and leadership development, emphasizing how emerging professionals can leverage digital tools to remain competitive, adaptable, and engaged in evolving professional environments. Special attention was given to creating equitable access to professional opportunities, supporting underrepresented populations, and utilizing technology to expand educational and career pathways.This presentation informs my teaching, research, and service by advancing my work in workforce development, educational leadership, professional learning, digital equity, educational technology, leadership development, and community engagement. The session reflects a commitment to preparing students and emerging leaders to navigate the modern workforce successfully while building collaborative networks, fostering innovation, and contributing to thriving professional communities.
