The overall mission and goals of libraries are changing precipitously. Libraries are finding new ways to engage the user through a multifaceted approach. The C. G. O’Kelly Library has created several initiatives that have galvanized the university community. This article will focus on a specific unique initiative in which we will describe the steps and format for planning Open Mic, an event designed to promote student engagement in the learning space of our library.
