Abstract

When frequency rises to mmW or even THz, the loss in passive circuit becomes a critical factor. Traditional design methodology has pre-determined circuit topology. The proposed method uses the genetic algorithm to optimize cross multiple circuit topology to find the proper broadband matching circuit. This work illustrates the proof of concept that using genetic algorithms on microwave circuit design is beneficial. We plan to extend the method on more sophisticated microwave circuit designs, including active components.
