Abstract

The main classification and delimitation of the world today is based on socioeconomic and geopolitical principles. The criteria of classification cities in the world are centered on the degree of urbanization. Urbanization occurs naturally from individual and corporate efforts to reduce time and expense in commuting and transportation while improving opportunities for jobs, education, housing, and transportation. An important aspect how well sanitized is the city. A city will more likely have issues relating to political, technical decision if good urbanization and sanitization are not emphasized. This article focuses on the case of Douala city in Africa and the poor housing system encouraging the development of slums. Most the gutters of the city of Douala are blocked by waste. The regular stagnant water from rains are all around is a palpable proof. This also leads to flooding in rainy seasons. Certain recommendations were out line to remedy the problem associated with poor waste management and sanitation in the city of Douala.
