Abstract
Families are foundational systems shaping children'sdevelopmentandserve as the primary agentsof children’s growth and developmentduring the formative years(ages 0-5).When families are resilient even when experiencing stress and trauma, this can greatly impact children's development.Extant literature documents the empirical strains experienced by families during the pandemic (Chen et al, 2021; Russell et al., 2020; Shorey et al., 2021) and hails from a deficit-based perspective magnifying existing pre-disparities. Less is known regarding the nuanced experiences of families with young children from varying backgrounds related to COVID-19 and its lingering impact. Families with young children are theforgotten people of the pandemic – until now.
