Abstract
When clients seek human services consisting of medical, psychiatric, psychological, educational, vocational, social, political, and financial services, the ultimate goal of human service professionals is to help the client figure out the appropriate treatments and to implement a treatment plan of achieving needs and expectations of the client. To implement an effective treatment plan, it is often the case that human service practitioners use information gathered from medical, psychological, psychosocial, and psychoeducational evaluations. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of commonly used evaluations and to discuss critical issues with interpreting the evaluation results. An accurate and holistic evaluation of the client’s relevant information can facilitate success and an appropriate and accessible treatment plan which can bring positive outcomes for the client.
