Abstract

Presented More Than Meetings: An Introduction to Microsoft Teams during Robeson Community College Convocation, providing faculty, staff, and administrators with an overview of how Microsoft Teams can be leveraged as a comprehensive platform for communication, collaboration, productivity, and organizational effectiveness. The session moved beyond the common perception of Teams as simply a virtual meeting platform and explored its broader capabilities for supporting teaching, learning, project management, institutional operations, and workforce collaboration.The presentation examined how digital collaboration tools can enhance communication, streamline workflows, improve information sharing, and support both in-person and remote work environments. Participants explored practical applications of Microsoft Teams, including document collaboration, project coordination, file management, communication channels, task management, knowledge sharing, and virtual engagement. The session emphasized how technology can be used to strengthen organizational efficiency, increase employee productivity, and foster a more connected and collaborative institutional culture.Particular attention was given to the role of technology in supporting innovation, continuous improvement, workforce development, and organizational adaptability. Participants learned strategies for integrating collaborative technologies into daily operations while enhancing communication among departments, teams, and stakeholders. Discussions highlighted how digital platforms can support professional learning communities, cross-functional collaboration, employee engagement, and institutional effectiveness while reducing barriers associated with traditional communication models.The presentation also explored the importance of digital literacy and technology adoption in higher education and professional environments. Participants examined how emerging technologies can support educational delivery, organizational resilience, strategic planning, and data-informed decision-making. The session encouraged attendees to embrace technology as a tool for innovation, collaboration, and improved service delivery while developing the skills necessary to thrive in increasingly digital workplaces.This presentation informs my teaching, research, and service by advancing my work in educational technology, digital transformation, workforce development, organizational leadership, professional learning, institutional effectiveness, and innovation. The session reflects a commitment to helping organizations and individuals leverage technology to improve communication, strengthen collaboration, increase operational effectiveness, and create environments that support continuous learning and organizational success.
