Abstract

Sixteen pentacyclic triterpenoids were isolated from Rubus pirifolius Smith by phytochemical methods and subdivided into one new ursane-type triterpenoid, 23-O-galloyltormentic acid (1), and fifteen known pentacyclic triterpenoids (2–16). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic techniques. All these compounds were isolated from R. pirifolius for the first time. The chemophenetic significance of triterpenoids for the genus Rubus is also discussed here briefly.
