Abstract
An attempt has been successfully made to prepare palladium acetate/polycarbonate (Pdac/PC) composite fibers with diameter in submicron range by electrospinning method using different concentrations of palladium acetate incorporated into polycarbonate solution. Pure ceramic metal oxide fibers were obtained by high temperature calcination of the palladium acetate/polycarbonate composite fibers. On the basis of the infrared spectroscopic data, it has been concluded that the relatively electron rich oxygen atoms of the ketone groups in the polycarbonate molecules are assumed to interact with palladium acetate. It has been observed that the surface morphology and crystallinity of the fibers depend on the calcination temperature.
