Abstract

Pyridine (CAS 110-86-1) is an aromatic heterocyclic amine that is a colorless to yellowish liquid and has a penetrating, sickening odor. It has a wide variety of uses, with 50% of the chemical produced is used as an intermediate in making various insecticides and herbicides for agricultural applications. Pyridine can affect the body if its inhaled, comes in contact with the eyes or skin, or is swallowed or digested. This article reviews the occurrences, uses, toxicokinetics, environmental fate, toxicity, and clinical management of pyridine.
