Abstract

In this article, we discuss the PEAS Practice of Applying Science Talk as an instructional tool that can concurrently support language and science learning in the context of inquiry-based science activities. Science Talk can be easily implemented in the preschool classrooms particularly when the following facilitating strategies are integrated: building on existing knowledge, use of descriptive words, WH and open-ended questions, and child-friendly definitions. Science Talk can also support inquiry-based science instruction in preschool classrooms.
