Abstract
Traditionally, teaching apparel construction meant instructors would introduce construction techniques and concepts for the first time in the classroom by lecture and demonstration. Students learned apparel construction through observation and practice. Thus, teaching the fundamental techniques required students to “do,” or actively engage, in order to develop basic skills based on the instructor’s lectures and demonstrations. In both the traditional and modern classroom, learning is active but the teaching approach for first time in-class exposure to course content is outdated for today’s generation of hyper-connected learners
