Abstract

The influence of fillers on the biodegradation kinetics of polymers was discussed. Filled biodegradable polymer samples were prepared and exposed to simulated composting environment and the degradation kinetics was characterized. The results suggested higher filler loading promoted biodegradation. It was also found that kinetics was controlled by the type and population of the active microbes.
