Abstract

Two dimensional and three dimensional hexagonal array models are presented to predict the transverse mechanical properties of the unidirectional composites. For the hexagonal array the repeating unit was identified. A simple technique based on the superposition principle was developed to simulate the multipoint boundary constraints. The results obtained using two dimensional hexagonal array model are compared with those obtained using three dimensional hexagonal array model and with the classical solution.
