Abstract

Two new oleanane-type saponins, subcapitatoside B and C were isolated from the roots of Aralia subcapitata. On the basis of chemical and spectral evidences, subcapitatoside B and C were established as oleanolic acid 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-[β-D-galactopyranosyl- (1→2)]-β-D-galacopyranoside, and 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl- (1→3)-[β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside, respectively.
