Whither the “Small" Cornerback?

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

The article examines if short cornerbacks are becoming obsolete on defense in college football. Through the last 30 years of the 20th century, many notable cornerbacks were less than 6 feet tall, because their other physical attributes, primarily speed, allowed them to more than compensate for a lack of height. The development of wide receivers with the same physical gifts who are also taller than 6 feet means smaller cornerbacks will need superior game intelligence and toughness as well.
