Your stories matter: Black males and the role of health literacy and health promotion in health choices and health behaviors among college students

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

College provides an opportunity for all black students and high risk youth to obtain critical health information and student health services. Whereas university athletes have access to physicals and medical/dental care, all male students may not have health information or screenings/physicals. Research on the provision of health promotion programs among black adults at libraries and churches show increased use of health screenings and medications among black males. Recommendations for student engagement and peer education are provided.
